Dr. Townsend believes that being a pediatrician is one of the best jobs in the world. She enjoys working with families as partners in finding the best course of treatment for all their children’s medical needs from infancy to adolescence. She feels confident treating a wide range of conditions from newborn care to infectious diseases, dermatology to asthma. Striving to positively improve the quality of lives of families and communities is a responsibility she takes very seriously. When she isn’t working in the clinic or hospital, she loves spending time with her husband and four beautiful children. Their various sporting, church and music activities keep her hopping, but when she has a spare minute, she loves reading, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and exploring new places.

Dr. Hedges was drawn to pediatrics in large part because of the
opportunities for preventive care. Whether ensuring the best
possible start to life for a newborn, managing a young child’s
asthma, or helping a teenager navigate the formative years,
he believes there is the chance to foster healthy practices and thus promote well-being over a lifetime. As he seeks to provide this diverse care, he aims to forge a partnership with parents and their children in order to best meet the individual needs of
each child and family. Dr. Hedges hopes to nurture each child
as a whole, by addressing his or her unique physical, mental,
and emotional needs. When not in clinic, he enjoys spending time with his three children, hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, running, ping-pong, reading and gardening.
